Jan Dunlop

Jan was born in New Zealand and is of the Ngai Tahu family in NZ. Her art practice has developed since she moved to Brisbane and then to the Sunshine Coast, Australia.

 

Over the recent years she has taken many opportunities to study and exhibit.

 

IE. The Brisbane Institute of Art (Certificate and Diploma of Fine Art).

The Queensland University of Technology  (MFA)

Studies at the Salisbury Atelier, Brisbane

A ten week immersion at the New York Academy of Art, NY

and recently a residency at FOURWINDS,Aurielle France.

 

These experiences have all contributed to the progression and variation within her work.

 

Jan now lives in the Hinterland Noosa and works from her home Studio. Over the past two years she was commissioned as part of ART X3 as the official artists for the Noosa Long Weekend Festival (now Noosa Alive) In this undertaking she became known for her environmental installations“ The Dress’s.

 

On review, her paintings, drawing, and environmental installations continually revolve around the human form and its relationships, the environment and the concerns of modernity.
